Wittgenstein said in the Logico Tractatus Philosophicus, “A man will be imprisoned in a room with a door that is unlocked and opens inwards, as long as it does not occur to him to pull rather than to push.” How much of life is spent pushing on unlocked doors, raging at the God we perceive as jailer? Grace calls us to cease striving.
How our progress shackles us! We get degrees and write books and count time to push that door open, and yet all that was required was to pull. We entrap ourselves in our words and need to impress ourselves upon the world, when we fail to recognize that simple kindness and thoughtfulness impresses upon the world no matter how large the impact.
Perhaps the embrace of satisfaction is just looking at the world a different way.
