Here in Austin, we are going to miss the massive snowstorm hitting the south. To an extent I’m happy, because the previous major winter storms we’ve faced decimated trees, cut power to thousands, and generally created chaos around us for several days.
And yet, there is something about enjoying the peaceful fall of snow in a place that rarely knows it. My biggest grief is the loss of the silence and solitude that snow can bring. I can plan it for myself, but somehow there is a mystique of allowing God’s nature to calmly lay its palm on our shoulder and say softly, “Let’s just slow down for a little while.”
